What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a physical therapy originating in Japan. Based on the same ‘Traditional Chinese Medicine’ principles as acupuncture, Shiatsu is often known as ‘acupuncture without needles’.
A Shiatsu treatment is given through clothes and no oils are used.
A treatment begins with a consultation and oriental diagnosis of an individual’s current energy pattern. A range of techniques and approaches are employed, depending on an individual’s needs, including gentle or deep perpendicular pressure along acupuncture and stress release points using thumbs; fingers or palm; stretches; sensitive joint rotations ; percussion…
Shiatsu encourages the release of physical and emotional tensions; supports the nervous, circulatory and respiratory system; promotes and strengthens the body’s innate ability to self-heal.
Clients report feeling a deep sense of relaxation, well being and energy.
